I just read an article about a town called Buckeye, Arizona. The town is becoming a must-visit place for Ohio State fans headed to a BCS Bowl game in the state. "The relationship dates to at least 1884.
That's when Malin Jackson, one of Buckeye's founders, named the town's canal "Buckeye" after his native state of Ohio, a name that eventually caught on and stuck.
Now even the Buckeye Fire Department calls its new state-of-the-art ladder truck "Brutus," the name of OSU's mascot.
Town Council meetings end with predictions about how many points OSU will score and suggestions for how to keep visitors from stealing Buckeye memorabilia, like town signs."
Cool!
